According to Witted insights’ latest report, Recordly is leading in YTD growth in 2026 in Finland by number of staff. Thus, we are happy to introduce to you two new band members, Hanna Hassinen and Markus Ovaska!
These two experts take with them strong experience in data engineering, analytics, machine learning, generative AI, plus the kind of curiosity and problem-solving mindset that fits right in at Recordly.
Get to know our newest Recordlians, their knowledge, biggest motivators, and details they are exclusively sharing in this blog.

Hanna Hassinen is a data engineer with experience in building analytics solutions, data pipelines, and scalable data models. Before moving into data, Hanna studied biotechnology, focusing especially on tissue engineering: how new organs could be built or bones repaired. Eventually, her career took a turn toward data, where she has worked with industrial IoT and data science projects.
Hanna combines technical precision with a practical drive to solve real-world business problems with data. She focuses on building reliable analytics solutions that are both scalable and useful in everyday decision-making.
Outside work, Hanna spends time sport-climbing and taking long forest walks with her Finnish Lapphund Riesa. Her next goal is to teach the dog to recognize the scent of chanterelles and, later, other mushrooms too, making future mushroom-picking trips a little more efficient and fun.
Your favorite lunch place?
“Whatever” near Tampere train station.
Your favorite movie, tv series, or book?
Difficult to name one favorite book, but now I am reading Moral Ambition by Rutger Bergman, that is truly fascinating
Best destination you have traveled to?
Mongolia. Not many people there, but still managed to find two Finns. Mongolia was part of the Trans-Siberian route, which was definitely one of the most memorable adventures.
Favorite game?
Escape rooms in general, and favorite so far is “Marien Muotokuvat”.
Do you have a special morning or evening routine?
I try to write a diary in German every evening. I enjoy travelling in Germany and I wish that I could master that language someday.

Markus Ovaska is a senior ML architect with more than 15 years of experience in advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI. His career started in academia: Markus studied physics, continued into computational physics, and his work eventually led to a PhD and postdoctoral research. During those years, he worked with simulations, experimental research, and data analysis.
Since then, Markus has applied his data and AI expertise across industries including security, automotive, manufacturing, and finance. He has worked on solutions involving computer vision, IoT data, algorithms, anomaly detection, NLP, RAG, and generative AI, both in startup environments and as a consultant. Markus brings strong technical depth, independent problem-solving skills, and a collaborative approach to complex AI and data challenges.
Outside work, Markus has a long-standing interest in languages, especially Japanese, which he has been studying for years. He also enjoys walking in the forest, listening to metal music, and has found a way to combine workdays with long step counts thanks to a treadmill at his desk.
Where are you from?
I lived in Helsinki for the first 39 years of my life, and moved to Espoo about three years ago. I enjoy the peace and quiet as well as the vicinity to nature here, and I still get to the office quickly by train when I want to.
Best destination you have traveled to?
Japan. I had a great holiday in and around Sapporo last July, and I just returned from a two-week Kyoto-Kinosaki-Osaka trip. So many interesting sights to see and foods to try, and Japanese hospitality really is one of a kind. It was also nice to see that studying Japanese has paid off, since I was able to chat with the locals a bit, and also read Japanese, albeit slowly.
Favorite game?
I used to play a lot of computer games when I was younger, and still do from time to time. Perhaps my favorite genre is CRPGs such as Baldur’s Gate 1&2, and I was quite hooked on BG3 when it was released a few years ago.
Do you have a special morning or evening routine?
In the morning I usually get a cup of coffee, and then study Japanese with some apps such as Kanshudo and Migaku while walking on the treadmill, before starting the work day. In the winter I also make sure to have a bright light lamp on during the morning (I used to be dead tired from November to March before figuring this out).
Favorite color?
Green. Looking out of the window right now and seeing trees starting to get their leaves makes me happy. 🙂

Right now, we have several very open positions, for which we want You to apply! Are you a (senior) data engineer, data architech, or AI/ML engineer looking for something fresh? Or do titles like business data principal or AI business lead suit your profile better?
Additionally, you can always send us an open application 🖤
